Trust. When you really think about it, it’s something that our entire lives revolve around…
You trust that your brakes are going to work when you’re driving your car.
You trust that the bank is going to keep all of your money in a safe place and won’t get stolen.
You trust that your alarm clock is going to wake you up on time in the morning.
You trust that your employer will pay you for the hours that you’ve put in at work.
I could go on and on. The point is, we put our trust in things every day without even thinking about it.
If it’s so easy for us to trust in these things without even giving it a thought, then why is it so hard for us to put our trust in God sometimes?
Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and He will show you the path to take.”
God has our best interests at heart. He says right there in His word that He will show us the right path to take. We don’t have to worry or fear, but only trust.
I think that the reason that it’s so hard for us to trust in God sometimes is because we’re simply just not used to doing it. Think back to those examples I gave earlier… It’s easy to trust in those things because you do them every day. What if we purposed in our hearts to trust God on a daily basis? We’d begin to see his faithfulness in the small things. We’d begin to grow in our trust and in our confidence in Him. Then when something big comes along, we’ve already built up our trust in Him so that it’s become an easy thing to rely on Him.
I encourage you to purpose in your heart to trust in God today. Leave your cares and your worries at His feet and trust in His Word which promises that He will show you the right path to take!
